Disaster Relief
In the tragic earthquake in 2010, CMM raised over $120,000 in cash to buy urgent medicines and high-protein foods to close friends in Port Au Prince and Cite Soleil. We also provided a water filtration plant that filters 20,000 gallons of water daily, along with a 32-kilowatt generator. In addition, we collected over $20,000,000 in gifts in kind of various humanitarian aid equipment and food, and medicines.
- We have helped with earthquake relief for many years: in Guatemala several times since 2004, the SE Asian tsunami in late 2004, Pakistan in 2006, Haiti in 2010, and Turkey and Syria in 2023. Our Rapid Response teams are deployed regionally, often enlisting local medical professionals to administer healthcare and medicines, along with water and emergency food and aid to alleviate immediate suffering. After these events, we work to repair housing and build new houses.
- In Syria, in 2015, we raised funds to purchase a mobile hospital and bakery equipment able to bake up to 20 tons of bread each day. During the height of the conflict in Syria, this bakery and kitchen were feeding 35,000 people each day. The mobile hospital has saved many lives and birthed many healthy babies with skilled doctors and nurses at hand. In 2017 we saw 35 healthy babies born in the ‘hospitainer’ in Kobani, Syria.
- After the 2023 earthquake in Turkey, our Rapid Response team was able to send in thousands of dollars to friends with boots on the ground in Suruc.
