A Global Problem

Agriculture-Sustainability

All it takes is a seed to change a community.

Agriculture often places significant pressure on natural resources and the environment. Sustainable agricultural practices are intended to protect the environment, expand the Earth’s natural resource base, and maintain and improve soil fertility. Based on a multi-pronged goal, sustainable agriculture seeks to:

  • Increase profitable farm income
  • Promote environmental stewardship
  • Enhance quality of life for farm families and communities
  • Increase production for human food and fiber needs

Importance of Sustainable Agriculture

  • Sustainable agriculture frequently encompasses a wide range of production practices, including conventional and organic. A regionally integrated system of plant and animal production practices are designed to produce long-term results such as:
  • Production of sufficient human food, feed, fiber, and fuel to meet the needs of a sharply rising population
  • Protection of the environment and expansion of the natural resources supply
  • Sustainment of the economic viability of agriculture systems

Call To Action

WHAT WE DO

  • Teach a man to fish, and he/she will eat for a lifetime…there are many ways to fish.
  • We use a variety of healthy, proven techniques based on local cultures and connect successful, experienced experts who are able to quickly and sufficiently teach and multiply what has worked for them.  Making it simple and scalable is our goal.
  • Crop diversification helps the soil and the people live longer.   Many third world nations are used to growing rice, corn and cane sugar. We endeavor to change their mindsets and expand their thinking horizon through education, online and in person, when possible.
  • Aquaponics – CMM trains loca communities to help provide
  • sustainable nutrition and livelihood by building sustainable gardens and farms that yield
  • fresh, organic fish and produce. Once the units are fully functional and the local team has been trained, CMM turns over the project to the local team. Funding for these are made possible by donations and grants.
  • Disaster Relief  eeks to be available in times of crisis to partner with other organizations on the ground. Funding for these are made possible by donations and grants.
  • Education –    works with local educators in providing “skill/life” training opportunities such as working with aquaponics and clean water projects. Funding for these are made possible by donations and grants.Development –   seeks to empower poor communities by providing sustainable projects that create income for the families.  works with local businesses in finding ways to expand markets and train workers in ethical and moral business practices. In many cases marginal changes produce extraordinary results. When people are encouraged to think “outside the box,” they realize greater potential for success, even in the depth of poverty. Funding for these projects is made possible by donations and grants.
